5 New Things to Know About Visiting Disneyland and DCA in 2022

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure (DCA) are arguably the most visited theme parks in the world. Every year, American and international families book their tickets to come to Florida or California to spend some quality time together. But before they pack their bags and hit the road, here are 5 new things that they should know about the parks.

Disneyland

1. New Reservation Policies

To limit the number of visitors, Disney has changed its reservation policies. Currently, all guests (ages 3 and up) must have a valid ticket and park reservation to enter Disneyland and DCA. Park reservations can only be made up to 120 days in advance while restaurant reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance. The latter isn’t mandatory but highly recommended by park management. Fortunately, the latest reservation system updates allow future visitors to purchase tickets and make reservations simultaneously.

Opened in 2021, Avengers Campus is the biggest and latest addition to DCA. According to the legend, the Marvel-themed land was created by Tony Stark as an HQ to recruit and train Earth’s next generation of superheroes. It currently features two attractions – Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! Disney plans to expand its Marvel-themed section in the years to come. But even in its current state, Avengers Campus is the place to be for all superhero enthusiasts.

Avengers Campus 3. Updated Jungle Cruise

Jungle Cruise was introduced to Disneyland visitors in 1955 and, since then, has become one of the park’s most successful attractions. During the last couple of years, Jungle Cruise was updated by Disney to better reflect and value diverse people and cultures. Although most of the attraction remains the same, the tribal dancers and shrunken head-wielding Trader Sam have been removed and a cohesive storyline has been implemented to keep guests entertained throughout the journey.

Guests who use the Disneyland app can use a complementary planning tool called Disney Genie to optimize their park experience. Besides creating a personalized itinerary, visitors can also use it to find attractions and get dining recommendations. They can also monitor their reservations, as well as get notifications about short attraction lines. Furthermore, they can purchase Disney Genie+ and use its Lightning Lane option to skip standby lines.

Disneyland App 5. Mobile Food Service

The Disneyland app gives visitors access to a whole new magical world, and one of its main features is the mobile food service. Guests can order tasty meals from dozens of restaurants and food stands and choose an arrival window to pick up their food.
